CACAO HOT CHOCOLATE

Is there anything more delectable than this warming drink in the fall and winter? Or, over ice if you prefer cold drinks.

No store-bought mix will ever have the flavor or nutrition of what you can create at home with a few basic ingredients. I have a couple variations that I enjoy from the add-on list that brings the flavor of your hot chocolate to another level. Choose any milk that you love – almond, coconut, pecan etc… My favourite non- dairy milk is cashew, because of its thick and creamy texture. For dairy I love goat milk.

Add-ins (optional)

Pinch of cayenne/cardamom/nutmeg/cinnamon

A drop of peppermint essential oil

1/2-1 tsp Mushroom powder of choice

Coconut oil or MCT oil

Collagen

Inulin

Vanilla extract

Maple syrup or honey

Feel free to stick with the basics if you choose. Enjoy!

INGREDIENTS

10 oz Milk

2 T Cacao

Monk fruit, honey or maple syrup to taste

Pinch of high quality salt to bring out the sweetness of the chocolate + added minerals

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Add all ingredients into a milk frother. If you do not have a milk frother you can warm everything on the stove and use an immersion blender or carefully add all warmed ingredients to a blender. You can also use a whisk if that is what you have available.
